Archer/Mint Street is an important urban corridor in the Town that will experience substantial changes over the next 10 years. With significant investment by the State Government expected at Carlisle station and a thriving business community, the nature of the street has evolved rapidly.
In 2020 the Town developed a plan for these changes with a move towards a more vibrant street and commercial environment. The concept design for the upgrade was endorsed by Council at the September 2020 Ordinary Council Meeting. The project has now moved into the detailed design phase for stage 1 of the project, which is the Carlisle Town Centre area on Archer Street.
The detailed design is in the finishing stages, with construction of protected bike lanes between Mars and Star streets anticipated to begin this year. The Town of Victoria Park will be providing an update when construction begins and will seek to minimise disruption to local businesses and residents.
