The Etwell Street Local Centre Revitalisation Project aims to transform the Etwell Street Local Centre into a place that plays an important part in the local lifestyle. The Etwell Street Local Centre is well situated to be a neighbourhood hub that provides local scale amenity and services to its surrounding community. The project aims to upgrade the public realm on Etwell Street between Riverview Road and Northampton Street to create a vibrant local centre and community meeting place.
A concept plan was created as a result of a collaboration between residents and Town of Victoria Park staff to address some of the current streetscape issues and can be viewed here. The plan presents the opportunity to provide the surrounding residential neighbourhood with a meaningful local centre through upgrades to not only the street itself, but also parking, footpaths and greening to the area.
Key features of the project include a unique curved road to slow traffic, more shade and greenery for pedestrians, public art and two separate public spaces for local events.
